What is a processing role?
Processing role defines the data responsibility of a legal entity, e.g. your own organisation or a third party.
Select ‘Data controller’ under processing role if the legal entity in question has an independent purpose when receiving and processing data. Select ‘Data Processor’ your organisation acts solely on instructions from another legal entity. Select ‘Joint Controller’ if both parties determines the purpose and means of processing.
The processing role must be defined for your own activities and also for those that third parties do in relation to a data transfer.
